Privacy notice
Last updated: 3 October 2026
This notice explains how PriceMe ("we", "us") handles personal data of people who use priceme.in, under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. It has two parts: one for buyers and one for sellers.
If you are a buyer
You can browse offers without giving us any details. To get a PriceMe code, we ask for your name, mobile number and email, and we confirm the email with a one-time code. We do this to keep fake buyers and fake sellers out.
What we collect
- Your details when you take a code: name, email, mobile number and (optionally) pincode, with the date you agreed to this notice.
- A sign-in cookie called
pm_b, set after you confirm your email, so you do not have to confirm again on the same phone for 6 months. - A hashed form of your internet address when you ask for a verification code, used only to limit misuse. We do not store the address itself.
- An anonymous cookie. When you view an offer or get a code, we set one cookie called
pm_didholding a random number. We store only a one-way scrambled (hashed) form of it. - What that cookie did: which offers were viewed, which codes were issued, and which "Order on WhatsApp" or seller-website buttons were tapped, with the date.
- Your pincode, if you type one into the search box, is used only to show nearby offers. It is not stored against you.
Why we use it
- To give you the same code if you return to an offer, and to keep each code single-use
- To count views and clicks once per person per day, so sellers see honest numbers
- To stop misuse, such as one person collecting many codes
- To email you your code, and to tell you when a seller marks your code as used, so you can report it if that was not you
- To look into complaints between buyers and sellers. If you send us a complaint, we keep what you wrote and your contact details, and may share what you wrote (not your email or number) with the seller to hear their side.
What the seller sees
When you take a code, the seller is told your first name and the last 4 digits of your mobile number, so they can check the code belongs to you. We do not give sellers your email or full number.
We do not use your details or these cookies for advertising, we do not send marketing emails, and we do not share them with advertisers. The cookies last up to 12 months. You can delete them at any time in your browser settings; you will then be asked to confirm your email again.
When you contact a seller
Tapping "Order on WhatsApp" opens WhatsApp on your phone with a message to the seller. From that point you are dealing with the seller directly: they will see your WhatsApp number and anything you send them. We do not see your chat, and the seller is responsible for how they use your details. We never collect payment.
If you are a seller
What we collect
- Your name, WhatsApp number and email. We confirm the email with a link before reviewing your offer.
- Business name, type, category, address, city, pincode, website or social link and (optionally) GSTIN
- Your offer details: product, product photo, prices, how buyers redeem it, validity. We remove hidden information (such as where the photo was taken) from photos before saving them.
- Your shop location, only if you tap "Use my current location". We save the map position to verify your shop. To turn it into an address, your phone sends that position to OpenStreetMap's address service (nominatim.openstreetmap.org). You can skip this and type the address.
- A hashed form of your internet address and of an anonymous cookie at signup, used only to block spam and spot repeat signups. We do not store the address itself.
- Codes you mark as redeemed on your dashboard
Why we use it
- To verify your business and offer before publishing it
- To show your offer and your public seller page to buyers. Your business name, area, website link and offers are shown publicly (your street address and exact map position are not), and buyers who tap "Order on WhatsApp" are connected to your WhatsApp number.
- To contact you about your listing, email you when a buyer takes a code or a sale is confirmed, and show you your stats (views, codes, clicks, redemptions)
- To prevent fraud and handle buyer complaints
Your dashboard is reached through a private link that we send to your WhatsApp number and confirmed email. Anyone who has that link can open your dashboard, so please keep it private. Ask us to reset it if it is shared by mistake.
For everyone
Visitor statistics
On our public pages (home, seller pages, FAQ) we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. It sets cookies starting with _ga and sends Google your device type, approximate location and the pages you view. We do not send Google your name, email, mobile number or PriceMe codes, and it does not run on the code, dashboard or verification pages. You can block it with your browser's cookie settings or Google's opt-out add-on.
Who we share data with
Google, for the visitor statistics described above; our hosting and email provider, which stores the data and delivers our emails for us; the seller or buyer on the other side of a code, limited to what is described above; and authorities where the law requires it. We do not sell personal data.
How long we keep it
- Buyer details, and view, click and code records: up to 12 months after your last code
- One-time verification codes and our log of emails sent: up to 90 days
- Seller details: while your listing is active, and up to 12 months after it is removed or rejected, unless the law requires longer
Your rights
You can ask us to show, correct, update or delete your data, withdraw your consent (for sellers, this removes your listing), or nominate someone to act for you. Email grievance@priceme.in. We aim to respond within 7 days.
Children
PriceMe is meant for adults. Buyers taking a code and sellers must be 18 or older.
